Singapore Changi Airport Termial 3 The APCS-3 (Airport Pass Computerized System, Rev 3) is the 2nd upgrade of the Changi International Airport’s security access control system for authorized employees, vendors and contractors working within the airport restricted vicinity; incorporating new Biometric-Card Verification System and Physical Access Systems.
Planning started by the Airport Police Division in late 2001 with Kaba invited to survey, propose and specify the type of physical access systems most suitable for their requirements for then Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
APCS-3 (Package 1) for Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Budget Terminal was awarded to Silicomp Asia Pte Ltd with Kaba’s close support during the tender stage beating 7 others system integrators vying for the project. Kaba also had to fend off other physical access system suppliers to provide the systems for Silicomp.
A total of 44 Kaba physical access systems (comprising Charon Swing Doors, Charon Half-Height Turnstiles, Geryon Security Turnstiles, Kentaur Full Height Turnstiles and Kerberos Basic & Grazil Tripod Barriers) plus 5 manual glass doors were supplied and installed.Order was awarded in June 2006 with all Kaba door systems completely installed and tested in May 2007.
The overall APCS-3 system had since been turned on for trial and operation with all personnel using the systems for their daily work operation. |
